Read on for a few hints and surprises as to what makes these Communion dresses so beautiful. We’re already counting down the days till the Communion dresses arrive!

Full Skirts
Masses of tulle, lace, floaty layers that make all the swooshing and swaying but it has lots of volume similar to formal dress seen in fairytales. What girls love about this dress shape is it makes them feel like a princess

Sleeves
Long sleeves, lace sleeves, sheer sleeves, three quarter length sleeves, which of course makes the dress seem all the more traditional.

Big Bold Bows
From dainty little additions to full on chic oversized, feminine bows that little girls will adore

Chic Capes

Communion dresses with built in capes. Could this be the new alternative to veils?

More Embellishment
Swarovski crystals, shimmering sequins, elegant pearls, lace appliques and awe-inspiring art deco beading, trust us, if you love vintage or retro you and you’re little girl are going to love this new collection!

Finding that special First Communion gift

Tips for giving a Holy Communion gift that will be treasured for years to come

When you opened your invitation to a First Holy Communion ceremony, the first thing that crossed your mind was probably, “What am I going to give for a gift?”

Gift-giving can be a tricky situation. You want to give something that recognizes the religious significance of this special day, expresses your joy and is personalized to the first communicant’s tastes.  It has to be meaningful and high quality because First Communion gifts are keepsakes that will be always be fondly remembered and appreciated.

If you aren’t that religious, buying a First Communion gift can be downright intimidating and stressful. You may struggle with what is an appropriate gift to mark the occasion or wonder if the gift has to include a religious symbol or not. Should it be personalized?  Am I limited to a Bible, rosary or crucifix? How can I make my gift different and unique?

The good news is that there are a number of excellent choices to consider. While rosaries and crucifixes are traditional gifts, over the years selections have expanded to include prayer books, candles and jewelry such as charm bracelets.

Whatever you choose, it shouldn’t be plain and ordinary. A First Holy Communion is one of the first and most important steps a person will make in their journey of faith. As they partake of the Lord’s Supper for the first time, the moment will be engrained in their memory and it will touch their hearts in a spiritual way like nothing else can.

First Holy Communion gifts are also different because they are often preserved for years to come. A special First Communion Bible, for instance, may be well worn from daily use, but it will never be replaced. Jewelry will be worn, but it also will be well taken care of.

If you’re concerned about the first communicant receiving too many Bibles or rosaries, you can’t go wrong with a photo album or picture frame. These gifts will always be useful and they make wonderful keepsakes. Many feature high quality silver and some, like those found online at One Stop First Communion Shop or in person at Ceremonial Celebrations in South Ascot, Berkshire are engraved with religious symbols like a cross, chalice or angel. They are available with sayings like “Bless This Child” or “My First Communion.”

A photo album in white satin and embossed with a cross is also a lovely gift. These can hold several photos and be a special memento of the occasion.

Other excellent gift choices for both boys and girls include a First Holy Communion teddy bear, First Communion chocolate coins, pewter keepsake gifts and First Communion pens.

Check out all the First Holy Communion gift choices at www.firstholycommunionday.co.uk or stop in Ceremonial Celebrations of Ascot at 18 Brockenhurst Road, South Ascot Berkshire.

EKMPOWERSHOP Service Disruption

since Tuesday 12th May 2015to our website

www.firstholycommunionday.co.uk for over 48hrs and still ongoing

We do apologises to customers who have experienced problems with ordering on our website this week, it has been an extremely frustrating week, what should be our busiest week of the year has been the worst week in 12 years of trading, as the website has been unable to accept orders 24/7 or update customers with orders in process this has been due to our our webhosts failure in providing the service they state in their contract, and they currently have no back up plan when a server has intermittent outages & performance issuesas what has happened this week on EKMPOWERSHOP server 39

Even after 48hrs EKMPOWERSHOP are unable to advise what has caused the issue or when server 39 will be up and working, but they have advised if we are not happy with the service we are free to leave at anytime? this is a little hard with a virtual website that is hosted on their server  - from this experience my advise is think twice before signing up to any virtual webhost - as you have no control

We have just had a look at the server status this morning and still see that the status is same as it was last night!!

Professional Communion dress fittings can prove to be a huge timesaver

  • Have you and your daughter seen so many First Communion dresses that they are all beginning to look the same?
  • Are your eyes glazed over by the sight of white lace and tulle?
  • Is your patience for having your daughter try on Communion dress after Communion dress after more Communion dresses wearing thin?

As Communion dress professionals, we know how challenging it can be to find the Communion dress that is “the one” and we want to help you find it as quickly and easily as possible.

A good place to start may be an unlikely choice: Scheduling a Communion dress fitting appointment. When you’re in the home stretch of First Communion dress season it can seem contradictory to take time from your busy schedule to make an Communion dress appointment and spend one-on-one time with a Communion dress consultant.

After all, isn’t just better to dash in, whip through the Communion dress racks, rush into the dressing room and make a hasty decision?

No! There are so many options available when it comes to First Communion dresses and Communion suits, Communion accessories, Communion headpieces, Communion gifts and Communion party supplies that it can be overwhelming to examine all the possibilities by yourself and make an educated, informed final selection. Plus, your daughter might want someone else’s opinion in addition to her mums.

During this step in the communion planning process, emotions are likely running high and patience is dangerously low. This can be a terrible combination when you are trying to create memories and spend special time with your daughter before this momentous milestone in her life.

Stop thinking that you have to go through this all alone!

A Communion dressing fitting professional, Communion dress boutique consultant and/or personal shopper can actually save you valuable time in the long run and transform the planning process into a peaceful, pleasant Communion dress shopping experience.

We are trained in the art of shopping, familiar with all the latest Communion dress trends and Communion dress styles, knowledgeable about the store’s inventory, able to share tips and advice and willing to working hard to guide you through the Communion dress selection process. We can even let you know when it is time to commit and say yes to the Communion dress.

In short, Communion dress boutique consultants, professional Communion dress fitters and personal shoppers are a valuable resource that you can depend on to make your life easier during this all-to-hectic period in your life. They have “been there, done that” and are willing to share their expertise with you and your family.

It takes only a minute to pick up the phone or send an email or text to make an Communion dress appointment for a personal Communion dress fitting or personal shopper services, but that one simple action can shave hours off your Communion dress shopping expedition.

Tempers can tend to flare in dressing rooms, especially near the end of the outing when mums and daughters seem to get on each other’s nerves the most. As the end of the Communion dress shopping season draws closer, this also attracts brings more customers into Communion dress shops and they each bring their own emotions that are running high as well.

Avoid the crowded sales floor and the hassle of waiting in line for a dressing room by scheduling a Communion dress appointment. The appointment guarantees that you will receive the assistance that you need no matter how busy the shop is that particular day you choose to stop by.

A Communion dress fitting professional is a kind consultant trained to focus on your needs and your needs alone. She uses the information that you and your daughter share to help narrow down the selection to Communion dresses you both are more likely to specifically be interested in.

When you are ready to try on your Communion dress selections, a dress fitter can assess the fit and provide expert recommendations on the styles of Communion dresses that are best suited to your daughter’s size and body shape.

These days communion dresses come in a wide range of Communion dress styles and sizes. Designers realize that girls have different builds and body shapes as they grow and transition into young ladies. As a result, girls who are a bit taller or shorter than their friends now have an array of tall and petite styles available to choose from.

There are also a variety of plus-sized Communion dresses in the shop for girls who need a little extra room feel comfortable and look their best. These Communion dresses are cut to proportion and styled to provide a great fit and flattering silhouette.

Professional Communion dress fitters know what Communion dress styles will work best for various body shapes. The classic ballerina skirt, for example, with its graceful, flowing skirt is the perfect choice for any body type. Meanwhile, a full-length Communion dress that is tailored to touch the floor elegantly looks fantastic on girls with taller silhouettes.

Another advantage of visiting a Communion dress fitter is avoiding conflicts over the size tag. Just as adults get frustrated by inconsistent sizing, so do young girls. Those teased about specific body issues, or who struggle with their weight, are particularly sensitive to what the sizing tag says. A dress fitter will use her knowledge, experience and measurements to select Communion dresses to bring into the dressing room – not a size tag.

Since actual Communion dress sizes can vary greatly from designer to designer, a professional Communion dress fitter will be knowledgeable about the variations and be able to predict more accurately which size of dress your daughter should take into the private dressing room. With her experience, she is aware of which designers and manufacturers’ garments run smaller and which ones are more generous in proportion.

This will eliminate some frustration – especially if your daughter isn’t keen on trying on Communion dresses – and will save time.

A professional can also expertly measure your daughter in order to guide her to the best choices of Communion dresses.

When it comes to measurements, you can expect the Communion dress fitting professional to use a measuring tape to take some basic measurements of the chest, hips and waistline. She will also measure for length based on the hem length of the Communion dress you have selected or want to look for, like tea-length Communion dress.

If your daughter’s measurements fall in between a designer’s numerical sizes, the dress fitter can provide guidance, either recommending a quality tailor who can provide alteration services, suggesting the larger or smaller size based on her body proportions and offer tips for ways to disguise common fitting challenges, such as using a sash or a ribbon belt at the waist that can be cinched to your daughter’s unique proportions for a comfortable fit.

To ensure that your Communion dress appointment goes as smoothly as possible, here are some steps you can take at home to prepare for your dress fitting appointment:

  • Have your daughter wear comfortable clothing that she can easily get in and out of quickly. If she doesn’t want to be measured in her undergarments, suggest she wear tight-fitting clothing such as a leotard, swimsuit or leggings under her clothes to help with precise measurements.

  • Make sure your daughter is well rested and that she is not hungry before arriving. Dress appointments – especially during the busy season – can sometimes take a while.

  • Prepare her for what to expect during the Communion dress fitting appointment so she isn’t caught off guard.

Dress professionals are available to assist customers with finding a Communion dress or suit as well as the matching accessories such as a veil, shoes, gloves, ties, armbands and more. They know that if a dress features a lot of intricate details such as pearls, beading, glitter or sequins that the accessories need to be clean and minimal so they don’t compete with the dress for attention. On the other hand, if the dress has simple, classic lines then they will help girls accessorize with sparkly jewelry, a tiara and shiny shoes instead.

Communion dress Styling Appointment - In addition, customers who have already purchased a Communion dress and need advice concerning accessories can rely on personal shopper services for professional, expert recommendations. All they need to do is send a photo and other helpful information about their Communion dress or suit and we can develop a list of recommendations from our vast inventory.

In some cases, it is also a good idea for those who bought a communion dress early in the season or at the end of last year to bring their daughter in for a professional fitting. Girls at this age can grow by leaps and bounds overnight so before time runs out to hire a seamstress, retrieve the dress from storage and bring it to be evaluated by one of our dress fitters. She’ll have your daughter try on the garment to see if she has had a growth spurt which may be creating a need for the dress to be lengthened or let out in the chest or stomach area.

A Communion dress fitting appointment service is a wonderful blessing for our busy customers who want to enjoy the time they spend with their sons and daughters shopping for First Communion clothing and accessories. It’s also a great benefit for the planners out there looking to cross a number of items off their to-do list in a relatively short amount of time.
